estoy de acuerdo con ustedes cuando yo vine a vivir aqui me enamore de esta bahia de la tranquilidad , era como discovery chanel en vivo era alucinante... ahora es casi una ciudad no muy diferente del lugar de donde yo me fui una ciudad en el mar con miles de apartamentos vacios y de mal gusto solo cemento tipo palomares solo con fuente de4 trabajo en la temporada alta que aqui seamos realista es solo año nuevo y semana santa.Aparte la gente que los construye viene hace una cagada vende y se va, con el dinero a otro lado.Eso no es desarrollo desarrollo son escuelas tratamiento de agua centro de reciclaje, centro gratuito de salud seguridad.. desarrollo no es contaminacion ni apartamentos de uno o dos ambientes vacios, torres mal construidas sin fundicion.

Authorities should focus more on creating conditions to develop ecotourism and not creating another Cancun. The area is practically unreachable for nationals since rates are very high. They are setting up the area so that foreigners can come play golf twice a year. We have a great treasure right in our hands and we are letting it go and that\'s what we call progress? how more stupid can we get?

Water shortage for local residence and waste pollution will be a great concern! Where I reside in British Columbia, Canada we have been having serious water shortages and pollution problems. Tofino is community that is located along the pacific rim national park, and it too has expensive hotels, housing, and parking lots popping up everywhere! Local people and the wildlife are in danger to having their homes destroyed and heavily taxed so large developers can over take the pristine coast line and rain forests. Every summer during the high tourist season, water has had to be shipped in just so guests and owners of high end properties can have a hot shower or water their lawn..... I would be their to join you , but I am back here in Tofino enjoying the last few months before the masses roll into town... Protect the nature of Tamarindo! It is absolutely beautiful, as are all of you! Your Canadian supporter.

If this goes on we will have 5 years from now a KFC, a McDonalds and why not a Wallmart on each corner of Tamarindo beach. Realize that Key West used to be the ultimate that nature gave us as gift. I 1st came to Tamarindo in 1994, then again in 2000 and now twice in 2007. As a real estate developer in Belgium and Europe I think I can see the evolution and where Tamarindo is bound to go if the actual trend is going on. If no decent Plan Regulador is in force ASAP, Tamarindo will become the cheap mass-charter vacation destination instead of this beautiful peace of paradise you can still recognize now.

I\'ve visited Tamarindo a few times and have seen the rapid rate of growth. The downtown is appalling, with only Langosta left as a respite from the dust and pollution. Once this is built up, I can\'t imagine why anyone would come here. Americans can go to Mexico for less if they\'d rather not feel that they\'ve left the country. The condo building seems to be a make money now, abandon later philosophy. How do they expect to support the condos without proper water treatment facilities, etc.? I love Costa Rica for its natural beauty and scenery. High rise condos will drive away the very sort of people who have made CR a very profitable tourist destination.

I own a property in Langosta and just spent 6 wonderful weeks there. I applaud you all for rallying like this to preserve and beautify Tamarindo - it should/could be a shining example of what careful planning and contolled develpment for sustainability can be - but I\'m afraid we are racing against time! Good luck with all your efforts!

I have been going to Tamarindo for the past 30 years and have seen it change in alarming ways. If it develops any further, I will stop going and invest my tourism dollars elsewhere.

There are enough places in the world to watch the see from the 15th floor, Tamarindo doesn\'t need it.
We own a condo there and water, sewage and clean beaches need to be addressed before any further building.

I live in Jacó beach and we are having exactly the same probleme... I came from Canadá 16 years ago and Jacó was a very clean and nice little town and now we have already about 10 big BIG big condominium towers and a LOT more coming up. I also understand they will make about 3 more \" marinas \" like the one at LOS SUEÑOS RESORT. That will affect TOO MUCH our one nice Jacó... the ocean wild life will be affect and a lot more... And it is ALL HAVE TO DO WITH MONEY ... MONEY and more MONEY... What will happen when we will have a lots of money and no place to spend it, we will be sick because we are killing the nature... My question is : WHY ???????????

Infrastructure will not handle this amount of development. What about hydro, water policing etc.
I have heard that Playa Tamarindo is a beautiful & unspoiled town and the people must have a say in how much development to be allowed there in the future.

Having just returned from a holiday in Tamarindo we were appalled at the very high level of new unsympathetic development taking place across Tamarindo. We were not alone with that view among tourists in the hotel and can only think that such continued uncontrolled development will totally destroy what tourists currently come to see in and around Tamarindo. We sympathize with the losses that the original local population in Tamarindo are suffering as a result of unwelcome outside developers hoping to make a quick buck.
There are things that are more important than real estate.

While tourism fuels the economy of the Guanacaste Region - Longosta and Tamarindo in particular, it is imperative that developers respect the native land -- it is afterall the reason travellers are drawn to the area. My wife and I live in Tamarindo and are very happy to finally see a grass roots effort finally form. The community and natural resources in this area can not support the out of control development, greed, and fragrant abuse that we have seen. The only real answer is a moratorium on any new building permits until the Plan Regulador is put into place.
What happened to the clean, quaint, and quite Tamarindo? This madness needs to STOP, NOW!
